the body is made up of parts
a femur here and a cranium up there
but your spine is connected to your hip bone
with hip bones one can bring new life into a world -- quite strikingly similar
as the one before
and in a bone or a strand of hair there is an identity
stripped of it's structural features
and when your mother is worried you hold her hand
like the son you never were
and the husband you could never be
because hand in hand you are just enough
to keep her
going
and hand in hand over hand
she can pass --
